Redesign of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021

Redesign of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) 2021

IRCC is implementing a New NOC in 2022 Spring. It is changing from a skill level (NOC O, A, B, C, D) to a 6 TEER categorization (0,1,2,3,4,5) for all permanent as well as temporary programs.
The format of NOC 2021 will use a five-tiered hierarchical arrangement of occupational groups with successive levels of disaggregation and will contain broad, major, sub-major, minor and unit groupings. The structure of the National Occupational Classification 2021 is based on two key occupational categorizations: Occupational categories and TEER categories, which are identified in the first two digits of the NOC 2021 5-digit code. The 5-digit code will be structured as follows: XX.XXX.
