LMIA - New prevailing wage review requirement
LMIA applications submitted as of January 1, 2024, employers are required to update the wages of TFWs to reflect changes to the prevailing wage, at the start of and throughout their period of employment, to comply with Temporary Foreign Worker Program requirements.
Changes in Temporary Foreign Worker Program
Continue to let employers in seven sectors with demonstrated labour shortages to hire up to 30% of their workforce through the TFW Program for positions under the provincial or territorial median hourly wage;
Maintain the maximum duration of employment for positions under the provincial or territorial median hourly wage at up to two years;
Adjust the LMIA validity period from the current 18-month maximum to a maximum of 12-months to respond to the labour market.
