International Mobility Program - Spouses or common-law partners of study permit holders
The International Mobility Program (IMP) work permit category is intended for spouses and common-law partners who are not study permit holders and are not enrolled in full-time studies. The policy to allow spouses to enter Canada and work is to increase the competitiveness of Canada’s academic institutions or economy.
The spouse must have sufficient funds to support themselves and any accompanying dependents separate from the funds used to support the principal foreign national’s study permit application.
